My guess is they can not say it is the same barrel a the US model since the caliber is determine by the barrel and for export they cant be 5.56. So since the US barrel is 5.56/223 they can't officialy say it's the same barrel since the Can version is a "223"
So I contacted KelTec directly. They said both the Canadian and US barrels are chambered for 5.56/.223, but they could only stamp the Canadian barrels as .223. Person I got the reply from stated she wasn't 100% certain why it had to be that way, but was guessing it was due to export laws.
This what Kel-Tec said to me so this contradicts what your saying. I just copied her reply. I asked because 556 is hotter. I wouldn't just start shoving 556 into a barrel stamped 223

Canada versions are .223 only. US ones are 5.56.
I just got off the phone with Vault and they said 1 in 7 twist 223 only, they couldn't get the 556/223 barrels for the Canadian guns. I mentioned you post and they said the
service personnel @ Keltec have no clue what there talking about, the only people that actually know that these are 223 barrels are the owner of Keltec and the people @
Vault.
Well it shoots 223 pretty good. I got mine out to the range today. I put a cheaper UTG scope on it I had laying around.
I started at 50 yds to get on paper and then moved out to 100 yds. I put around 80 rounds through it with no problems feeding or stoppages. The trigger felt quite heavy to me. I'm hoping with use or maybe polishing it will get smoother. Being it was first time out I wasn't getting too serious about accuracy. Some of the groups show promise and I'm sure it could do better. I took a dozen or so rapid offhand shots at the same targets that explains some of the random ones.
It definitely requires a high mounted optic to get a comfortable cheek weld on it. The long chamber flag it came with is a nice touch. The mags all fell free no problem. I like it.
50 yds.
100 yds.
