Are you sure about that? I seem to recall the gas block being secured to the upper receiver front hand guard extrusion.

The Gen 1 did not free float, that is correct.
The current model (Gen 2 Pro I believe) is a free float.

Agreed, and before dropping $5k on a gun, you may want to phone to confirm model. The photo being used is the Gen 2 Pro but some dealers had old stock and used the wrong photo, and some had new stock and used the old photo.
Price went from 4300 to 4800 pretty quick. Hopefully someone snagged one at the cheaper price
