The Marlin x7 which Remington basically copied after they bought them is a nicer gun than the 783.

Ata turqua in walnut (stevens 334) is cheaper and light years better than both.
ATA version has iron sights and fully adjustable trigger.
Can't speak for the Savage but my Pre bankruptcy 783 in .308 is shockingly accurate. Great trigger and lightweight. Mine only has about 60 rounds through it but with 150g Winchester Powermax, she will stack up 2 consecutive rounds a thumb width apart at 100 yards if I do my part. For 450$ (back then) with a scope, it was a phenomenal deal. Would buy again given the opportunity. My buddy's 783 in 30-06 is the same.
Hopefully Axis because I never seen a Remington ever in person.
Judging by all the reviews I've looked at, turqua may be a better bang for the buck than tikka. I haven't looked at one in person yet, but to say they are superior to tikka is a serious statement
